Middle School Languages

Foreign Languages for Middle School are recommended only for 7th- and 8th-grade students.

Spanish 1A & 1B uses the Online program, Carnegie Learning

Spanish 1A
Prerequisite:  C or better in English 6
Spanish 1A is an introduction to the Spanish language and culture, designed to help junior high students develop proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing at the introductory level.  Vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and culture are present in realistic situations through listening comprehension activities, pronunciation drills, conversation, dialogues, written activities, readings, puzzles, songs, and games.

Spanish 1B
Prerequisite:  C or better in Spanish 1A
Spanish 1B is a continuation of the text and course content from Spanish 1A.  Easy-to-answer questions require students to discuss their daily lives, express their opinions, and provide real information on topics related to introductions, family, school, activities, numbers, descriptions, professions, feelings, and other situations.

French 1A
Prerequisite:  C or better in English 6
Open to 7th- and 8th–grade students, this course is designed to introduce the French language and culture, with a focus on building awareness of francophone countries beyond France. Various resources will be compiled to introduce students to listening, reading, and writing in French. Emphasis will be placed on proper pronunciation.
